The Alaska Association of Legal Administrators traces its beginnings to 1979, when a small group of legal administrators began meeting to discuss common problems. In 1980, this informal group voted to become a chapter of the international organization known as the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA), whose members currently number over 10,000 law office administrators in countries around the world.
