The Legal Document Specialist works on a firm-wide team that is responsible for performing high volume, advanced word processing tasks, including typing legal pleadings and documents, using templates, performing mail merges, working with automatic features and form documents, advanced Excel functions and polished PowerPoint presentations using Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Kofax Power PDF, Workshare Compare, Intapp Time Entry, Litera Contract Companion, and other software as needed. The hours of this position are 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM (PST).

It’s been a challenging year for all of us, but the AK ALA Chapter is still having its Fall Education Conference! Yes, it will have to be virtual, but we will make the best of it. This year we have a two hour conference with a presentation on Well Being Even in a Pandemic.

We have a great Fall Education Conference planned for you at The Lakefront Hotel, October 3, 2017 from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This year we have Nancy Nolin joining us for two sessions. Nancy’s first session will be presenting cognitive behavioral techniques combined with self-care goals. Nancy’s second session will be teaching us the practice of mindfulness. Stevie and Andrew Frakes will be working with us on communication skills. Both Stevie and Andrew bring interesting and helpful insights into the topic. 2017 Presidents’ Award of Excellence!

We are proud to announce that the Alaska Chapter of the ALA has received the 2017 Presidents’ Award of Excellence. This program is a performance guideline that the Alaska ALA Chapter has met in taking effective and collaborative action in support of ALA’s mission to promote and enhance the competence and professionalism of legal administrators and all members of the legal management team; to improve the quality of management in law firms and other legal service organizations; and to represent professional legal management and managers to the legal community and to the community at large. Our chapter will be receiving this recognition at the 2017 ALA Annual Conference in Denver in April.
